COMET 3 (EN-B+)
Designed for those who want the best of what EN-B category has to offer
What if you could have a balanced glider that has both top performances and high passive safety ? Well it looks like you landed in the right page of the paragliding internet !
R&D Team’s note
The Comet 3 was a development from its predecessor, but with a new profile and higher AR, which resulted in higher glide-ratio in all speeds.
We managed to correct the major flaw of his predecessor’s : not so perfect inflation while taking off in no wind conditions.
Another significant improvement is the brand new line construction. The glider is now pure 3-liner, we managed to reduce the total drag of lines (by using smaller diamters) consumption to its predecessor by another 10 %, which participates to the above-mentioned increase in performance, all while maintaining a soft and progressive forces in brakes/steering.
TECHNOLOGIES
The front part of the profile is rigidified by crossed plastics rods, also know as theshark nose. It enables stable inflation of canopy at all angles of attack.
The shape of the upper front pannels have been optimized using 3D modeling (called 3D shapping) to get a cleaner leading edge for a better penetration in the air, glide and speed.
Using the mini-ribs on the trailing edge for better direction of flow of the outgoing airflow – reducing secondary turbulence, which in turn reduces the overall resistance of the canopy, thus contributing to higher glide ratio / has already been a standard feature for Axis wings.
Lines layout is pure three-line structure. This solution, along with linear distribution of the lines along the span, has enabled us to greatly reduce the consumption of lines, which also contributes significantly to relatively high maximum speed.
THE BEST OF WHAT EN-B CATEGORY CAN OFFER
And we firmly believe that this glider will be the perfect XC companion for the young pilots in their progression but also for more experienced pilots who seek amazing performance combined with more comfort in turbulence !
